WARMING UP....
still wet.

The rain has barely ceased for more than a day and there is a good deal of water lying around. I have dahlias ready to plant but I'll wait till it dries a little. My Gladiolius are dried and stripped ready to go so I will plant fortnightly for a good continuous show this year.. annuals are in but I think its too early.. Hollyhocks, primulas, stock and some scattered cottage seed. We will see what comes up.

The Daffodils have put on a great show and Im adding a garden feature to the top lawn which will highlight the daffs next year.. quite ironic really that the feature has a lawn mower in it and the daffodils

suffered at the hands of the lawn mower last week... that's another story. needless to say I have a pathway thru the daffs that was not planned.

Heavy rain wind and now some sunshine... we lost a lot of blooms but plenty still to enjoy. There's a freshness about the garden today. Rhodos, Roses and Snap Dragons.. all enjoyed the rain.

Rhodos suffered a bit and new flowers were blown about but new ones taking their place already. A tiny old fashioned rose, just a single but a statement all the same. The Camelias struggled with the wind but some held on.

Roses  old and new and the cannas are starting to show some good growth. the old roses were from Pahiatua track, in old garden where we dug them and bought them home. They really struggled last year but they are looking good now. Excited to see what they all produce.

Daisies seem to do well in the clay.. there are several kinds that we have tried and they all bloom profusely. The irises are starting to bloom and this one was a real blue.. has faded a bit now but quite unusual.

Inkspot rose showing a full bloom at the moment and adding some colour to the lower garden... its an unusual single. I wanted Queen Annes Lace and this initial plant has ensured I have it everywhere, just as I wanted.. I love the movement and the delicate flowers.
